My dad, Mark Christie, was unfortunately affected by all the rain/flooding that happened in Vermont. On Tuesday, July 11th, a landslide occured behind his nearly new home pushing it 90 degrees all while he was inside. His home, car and land that he has lived on for the past 20 years all destroyed in the process. My dad has always been a hardworking man, working at the plant Glober Founderies/IBM for the past 24 years. As a single father, he did everything he could to give my sister and I a good life growing up and now I want to do what I can from Texas to help get my dad closer to where he was before this devestation occurred. His home insurance denied his claim. He has gotten help from FEMA but it is not nearly enough to cover the cost of what he still owes on the house that is destroyed, all the clean up that needs to be done and to get a new place to live. He is currently fighting with the city of Barre to help due to the fact that he has expressed his concerns of the hill behind his home for years and they refused to do anything about it. I put the goal to 40,000 which will only help cover what my dad still owes on the house after the help from FEMA. I am hoping to atleast cover this cost for him so he can get a new place to live. My Dad doesn't like to ask for help and is always there for others who need him, so I am here today for him, asking anyone who can, to please help my Dad recover from this devastating event.
