Hi, My name is Johnny Bowles and I am raising funds to help my Sister Linda and her husband Dennis. Dennis has been dealing with illness since 2017, Finally last month they received the devastating news that Dennis has ALS, also known as Lou Gerigs Disease, an incurable neurological disease that is fatal. Linda and Dennis need your help. They currently live full-time in an RV. As you can guess RVs are not wheelchair friendly. As a result of his illness, Dennis and Linda must quickly move to a house that is either wheelchair friendly or can be made so. Additionally, due to the long time it has taken to obtain a diagnosis, Linda and Dennis have spent their entire life savings on medical bills and travel to see medical experts. Linda and Dennis need a down payment on a new home and assistance with purchasing the necessary furniture and medical equipment that Dennis so desperately needs. Doctors recommend they move within the next 6 weeks so we are in a real-time crunch. Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Let me let them tell you a little about this amazing couple. Linda's words: Dennis and I were high school sweethearts. He was captain of the basketball team, and I was a cheerleader. We have been together for 55 years and married for 50 of those years this past March. We have had many very happy years together and pray for many more. He looked up at me the other night as I was helping him eat and said, “I sure would like to have at least 25 more years with you. There are so many things I wanted us to do together”. All I could do in response was hold him as tight as I could and pray for the same thing. He is truly and forever will be the love of my life. Dennis was a Worship Pastor for 38 years. Most of those 38 years he worked at a full-time job as well to support me and our two daughters and the ministry. He formed a band called “WarCry” and traveled playing his guitar and singing with his band all over the US, South America, Europe, and Asia ministering to the young and old alike. His heart was to support, encourage and train young people in the various arts, including songwriters, musicians, and worship leaders. Currently, he is no longer able to sing or play his guitar. His motto is “NEVER GIVE UP”. There is so much in my heart I could share about this awesome guy that was/is my “Knight in Shining Armor”. Our daughters and grandsons are so precious to him. To see what kind of man he is, read what they have to say. This is what his daughters had to say about their awesome dad: Hi, I’m Laura. Mother of 2 and with my younger sister Michelle we are daughters to one of the most dependable, hardworking, caring, and selfless man we’ve ever known. Our earliest memory of our dad is sitting in mom’s lap while my Daddy sat on the floor in front of us, playing his guitar and singing songs about me and my sister. It was completely freestyle, just about how much he loved us. As an adult, I look back and realize he had just come home from working all day as a steel fitter or attending classes to attempt to complete his degree in engineering. While attending The University of South Alabama he was in the co-op program. He was sent to NASA in Huntsville where he worked on the Hubble telescope. I know he was tired many days, but he always found the time to be his best self for me and mom and later my sister Michelle. As we grew older, we watched this man, husband, father, grandfather, engineer, musician, and minister consistently make every effort to be a good person and example, helping those he saw that needed help. He’d give the shirt off his back, even if it was his last one, because he had/has a heart for people. He has always given and done what he thought was right to the best of his abilities. If someone was having car problems, he’d get his hands dirty without a second thought and fix it. If someone needed someone to just listen, he was there. He put his whole self into his family, music and into the things he did for others. Following his heart, he found himself dedicated to ministry and helping others instead of pursuing a high paying engineering position with a corporation and retirement plan. Ultimately, he chose to be a light to those around him and his family instead of working away from home day and night. He chose to try to make his home and the world around him a better place. This is a man who has always been good to those around him, and now he is the one who needs some good to come back to him. Just when he and my mom would have been ready to enjoy their golden years, he is now faced with the fight of his life. Several years ago, they sold their house and bought an RV to travel for his job with the anticipation of later traveling and enjoying their lives after retiring. Now, the diagnosis of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) makes RV living an impossibility. With the recent diagnosis of ALS, he’s the one who needs assistance now. We all hope and pray that when we do good it will come back to us, so, if you would like to be a part of that “good”, please donate. He has worked literally every day of his life and now cannot. I would love for my sons to have this great example of what a loving father and a strong man is supposed to be in their lives as long as possible. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will go towards medical expenses and medications/supplements to enhance and extend his time with us, as well as helping them find a more suitable living arrangement. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. We love this man dearly and want to be able to provide for him now, since he has spent his life providing the best for us.
