Hi everyone. Since the day I was born I’ve been so blessed as to know one of the most wonderful women in the world, my mother, Mariolga. She’s the most amiable and sociable person you could ever hope to meet. Everywhere she went, she made friends without fail. She’s empathetic and always thinks with her heart for others, even strangers. She’s adventurous in the sense that she always wanted to travel, to see the world’s beauty up close. She was always hard at work keeping our family together and keeping us organized and healthy. I can only hope to ever be half as amazing as she is. But on Saturday July 15th, my mom passed away overseas in Brugge, Belgium. Me, my dad, and my mom had been traveling onboard a cruise ship that left out of Iceland. While in Iceland my mom developed a mild sickness. We boarded the cruise ship, and as the days went by, my mom only got worse. Finally the ship made it to the port in Brugge, where my mom was then rushed in an ambulance to the nearest hospital. She only survived there for four or five hours while intubated before finally succumbing to severe pneumonia, influenza, and bleeding in her lungs. We’ve spent thousands just on hospital care and air fare to get back home to the States. Please consider donating if you can. Every little bit helps! It’s been really tough getting back to the US and figuring out a new path forward but we deeply appreciate all the love and support we’re receiving to get us through this.
