Hi guys. Those of you that know me know that I NEVER do stuff like this. But I find myself having to do SOMETHING. On July 25, my oldest bought a car from a private individual. I don't know their real name as it was all done via Facebook Messenger and his profile doesn't share that info. We checked out the car and Adder test drove it. They were excited. They bought the car for $1550. Three days later, on July 28, they came home and said the brakes were not working. I drove it and found that the brakes were completely gone. It's a used car. We weren't shocked that something had broken. Kind of expected it. Today, August 3, my oldest took it to a garage to have the brakes fixed. They were told that the bottom of the car is so rusted out they cannot fix it. I've reached out to the seller to give him the chance to make it right. But I am not hopeful. Adder is DEVASTATED. They spent every dime they had earned this summer on that car. They had a blissful three days, but now they are crushed. Admittedly, we don't know a lot about cars. Should we have taken a qualified person with us to check everything out? Yes, but it didn't work out that way. I'm not interested in placing blame. What I am interested in helping my child. I am setting this up hoping they can get the $1550 they spent back, even if it's not from the person who sold them the car. Would you be willing to help? Even a couple bucks? Just so that my kiddo knows that there are good people out there? I realize this is a luxury thing and a hard lesson to learn... but if I can do this one thing to make it better for them, I will.
