Hi, my name is Charlie and I am fundraising for a struggling mom & pop landlord, Sharon, to help her regain her property. I am her property manager. A tenant has asked for years if she could buy the property from Sharon, and she does not want to sell the property. She has that right. The tenant quit paying rent a few months back, saying she was putting the money aside every month in an escrow account to buy the property. The property is not for sale. The tenant has been evicted in court (June 21st). The Sheriff Dept. with help from local police removed her & her supporters off the property on July 5th. They have since come back to the property and are occupying it and we unable to get on the property. There are a total of 3 houses on this property and where the evicted tenant lived, that house is set in the back & you have to go past the other 2 houses to access that house They have barricaded the front and only entrance. We are working to regain control of the property. Sharon has spent thousands of dollars already on legal fees and material/labor to secure the property. She is having to spend more money to get this property back. She is an elderly woman (over 70) on a limited income and does not have many resources. She had saved enough money to paint the front house exterior this summer, but those funds had to be used on legal fees. Sharon lives in California, but has had protestors at her house 3 different times urging her to sell the house to the evicted tenant. The last protest, last week, the protestors told her to just give the property to the evicted tenant. They have posted malicious flyers all over telephone poles near the owner's house in California with her name & phone number , saying she is a greedy wealthy landlord. She lives in a one bedroom duplex that she rents. Her tenants up here are paying below market rent as she has wanted to keep rents affordable for her tenants. She hasn't been paid rent for 4 months on the evicted tenant's house, while having many expenses fighting this. We need people, to help Sharon fight to get her property back.
