Hi, my name is Ander and I'm here asking for help for my family to get back on their feet. Last night, July 3rd, 2024, at around midnight I got a call from my mom who would normally never call me that late. Struck with fear, when I picked up she told me with a tear-streaked face that our family home was entirely burned down and there were losses in the form of some of my animals and all of our items, which were lost in the wreckage. Including our family cat, reptiles and three cars. The most important thing is that all of my family members made it out and are safe, along with the family dog. But they had nothing at the start of this morning but the clothes on their back. My mom told me this morning about how she was buying shoes and undergarments for my little brothers because they didn't even have shoes on when leaving the house. During the call this morning, my 8 year old brother was expressing how sad he was over the loss of all of his stuffed animals, and my 14 year old brother was completely silent. I know how much his personal style means to him and all of his clothes were lost in the wreckage. Insurance should help some in getting things back together but it will take lots of time for investigation and claims to go through, and I know my family would never ask for money for themselves so I'm here hoping people will be willing to help them gather necessities and especially some things for my little brothers, whom this was especially hard on. While there were many priceless items lost in the house such as family photos, one-of-a-kind handmade clothes, and my mom's wedding dress, I think that a small amount would help just buy comfort items like stuffed animals, some clothes, and good food while they're put up in their short-term hotel stay. I've set the total at $1000, though I do not expect to reach that much, at the least I'm hoping to get enough money to send a package out including clothes, toys, an old phone of mine, and some comfort items as I'm currently living paycheck to paycheck. Edit: Thank you all so much for the donations - I never imagined I would actually meet the goal or surpass it. I feel so so loved and supported by my community. I'm going to increase the amount just to keep it open, in case anyone wants to keep donating but this is honestly plenty. Thank you all so so much, I'm going to surprise my family with a care package of items and the money to pay for food and emergency goods tomorrow. I'll be showing updates on my story with making up the package and I'll be trying to thank everyone who donated personally through notes. I can never truly express how grateful I am for this.
