To know my dad, is to love my dad. On June 12 my dad was airlifted from El Paso TX to Houston TX for an emergency esophagectomy surgery due to an esophageal perforation. Thankfully the surgery went well and we are very lucky and grateful he is with us today! Placement of chest tubes, esophagus tubes, and gastric tubes were necessary. My dad and my mom had to stay in Houston for 3 weeks for my dad’s recovery and observation. On June 30th we got to bring my dad home. He was sent home with a tube, a liquid diet, medications, and a lot of restrictions. My dad is working hard every single day to fully recover and is following through with all exercises and requests that were given to him by the doctors. Thankfully my parents have medical insurance and that's a big help. Unfortunately, my dad won't be able to work for a while until he fully recovers and like we all know bills don't wait. We will have to continue making necessary trips to Houston to make sure he is healing properly and gets the care he needs, along with getting him back to eating solids again. We asked about our options but the care my dad needs is only available in Houston, as El Paso does not perform the type of surgery my dad received. Bills and travel expenses are becoming very costly. The very first thing you can do for my dad is pray for his healing and recovery. If you are able to, you can donate here to help offset costs of travel expenses, bills to be paid, and general life necessities. We are trying to help out my parents as much as we can, and want to make this predicament less difficult by helping them out financially. Thank you in advance for your prayers, your support, and your donations. We are truly grateful!
