Established in 1993, Avalon Visions is the longest operational metaphysical/spiritual shop in Santa Cruz County. In our 24 year history, we have survived the worst economy since the great depression of the 1930’s, the flooding of Capitola in 2011, and numerous other difficulties. Despite all the weirdness of these times, we managed to expand in 2014, adding a healing space to our little shop where a cigar shop had been. It had to be done at that time, or it would likely have never happened. This May, after 24 years in our Capitola Village location, and a 10 day closure in February due to a leaking pipe in the unit above us, our landlord gave us notice that on August 1, 2017, our rent was to increase 67.57% which translates to about $1,500 per month over and above our already high Capitola Village location rent. We would also have to face yet another increase of an additional $200 per month beginning next August. The landlord refused any and all negotiations.Due to the non-negotiable stance of our landlord, we were forced to decide that our Capitola Village location was no longer viable. Because of our long history, we did not wish to see the closure of Avalon Visions. All forms of prayers were sent out, as the staff and friends of Avalon Visions scrambled to find a new and better location. We had almost given up, but then the perfect location suddenly became available. A long time shop owner in Soquel Village decided it was time to retire, and relinquish the one and only absolutely perfect location in our area!We are very blessed to have found this ideal new location in Soquel Village. Our new location provides private spaces for readings and healings, a separate room for classes and events, all with plenty of free parking. Avalon Visions will be utilizing the new space from a community perspective, rather than a mere retail/gift shop model. We hope that our new location will allow us to serve the multi-faceted spiritual community of Santa Cruz County for many years to come.This new space is an unbelievable blessing. However, we are still facing an unexpected move, and one which involves costs. Because we have long term stability of the new location in mind, we are setting a financial goal of $10,000. We know that many of our customers do not have much money to spare. We ask that those who would like to help, but cannot do so financially, help to spread the word that we have moved. You can also donate time in our gift shop and for our events and classes. We welcome both your support and interest!If you can help financially, no amount is too small, and any amount is appreciated. We hope to enter our new space free and clear of any and all lingering debts, and to have all our moving costs covered. We also wish to continue to stock the gift shop with the wonderful products that we have always been known for, along with locally handmade products, and other unique items.
