Hello Community, My name is La Ciesh and I am raising funds for the FREE SHOWER PROJECT. It’s more than just a shower. It is free mobile personal hygiene assistance (bathing, teeth brushing, denture care, shaving, etc.) for those that I call, the “In-Betweeners.” Why this project is important to me I created the FREE SHOWER PROJECT with a focus on the "In-Betweeners" because they are unfortunately overlooked as their health challenges grow. They are positioned on the lower income scale of the middle class. They are the people with modest incomes – their incomes are NOT LOW ENOUGH for government-funded programs, and also NOT HIGH ENOUGH to hire a caregiver or Certified Nurse Assistant to help them with their hygiene needs – especially after trying to budget for their prescriptions, groceries, utilities and other expenses. My heart breaks to see and hear these situations occurring every day. I am hopeful that with your support, together we can bring H.A.P.P.I.N.E.S.S. to everyone. My father-in-law proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. As he courageously battled cancer, there were several attempts to apply for assistance from the VA and other government agencies. The responses were always the same. He didn’t qualify either because he did not have a documented service-connected disability or his income was slightly over the program thresholds. It was an emotional time for the entire family that was coupled with physical and mental exhaustion. No family or individual – especially those who have served their country – should go through what my father-in-law went through just because he was an "In-Betweener". What’s an "In-Betweener" The "In-Betweeners" consists of veterans, the elderly, and other individuals with health challenges that need help. Sadly, out of this group, suicide rates, feelings of hopelessness, depression, loneliness, and anxiety are running rampant as they look for help and get turned down left & right. The state of this group should be considered an international crisis instead of being overlooked and ignored. Personal hygiene is a subject that most people shy away from or do not talk about it at all. But the hard truth is that many people are having difficulties keeping themselves clean due to health challenges they are quietly dealing with. We see them in the workplace, the stores, our neighborhoods, and many other places. They aren't telling the world about their challenges, and why should they. Who will provide the free services The free services that will be available through the FREE SHOWER PROJECT will be provided by a group of Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) volunteers that I refer to as ‘Caregiving Superheroes’ because they are committed to sharing their strengths with others, and are passionate about using their professional training to give back to their community. In addition to their CNA training and State Board of Nursing credentials, our volunteers are required to possess a Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card. How the free services will be provided I already purchased an electric truck to support this project, and a custom hygiene trailer has been designed by a reputable manufacturer to provide mobile services. The trailer will be primarily powered by the electric truck – producing zero emissions without a noisy air-polluting generator. It will also feature a state-of-the-art water filtration system, solar panels, a relaxing walk-in tub and separate shower, a full bathroom, energy-efficient electronics and lighting, and a wheelchair lift. When and where the free services will be provided The goal is to launch the service by the first quarter of 2024. The FREE SHOWER PROJECT needs your support to secure the hygiene trailer.
