Assalamu Alaikum Warahmat Allah, The Andalusia Islamic Center in Yonkers, NY is a blessed place and a second home to many special people in our community; including current students and past alumni. I have had the pleasure of being part of this community for almost two decades now! This center has given me some of the best moments of my life. With all the activity and back-to-back events that happen in this building, we often overlook and forget the people who maintain the building and clean up after us and our children. Our brothers/janitorial workers; Mousa, Hajji, and Mohammad have the great task of maintaining this large building which has so many different events going on. Andalusia is in need of a serious cosmetic make over and insha’Allah there are plans to address this. However, this can boost morale and provide even more motivation to our brothers and make them feel like they are seen and appreciated. At the moment, we are running a summer camp, so I wanted to start a gofund me page to surprise each brother with a $1,000 cash gift from the community for all their hard work. I recently gave one of the brothers some cash after seeing him take initiative in the art room as he organized and cleaned up all the play dough and kinetic sand off the floor, and he was shocked and extremely appreciative. I can only imagine his reaction upon receiving a $1,000 cash gift from the community. No donation is too small (or too big).
