This past week, our family farmhouse in Halvetia, WI (originally build in 1886) full of 11 years of joy with 6 grandchildren (one whom just joined the military), filled with laughter, memories, family heirlooms past down from generation to generation, and a countless amount of home furnishings, kitchen items, clothing, hunting gear, and children’s toys was all burned down to the ground. No one was in the home or injured.  We have also been renovating this home as it was set to be the retirement home of my parents, Keith and Hilda Matthes.  The blood, sweat, tears and countless number of hours that went into demolition and rebuilding.  The pride we felt after we finished another project. All priceless. Now crumbled to a pile of burnt ashes.  My parents have put everyone’s needs before their own for as long as I can remember. About 12 years ago, they took in 4 of their grandchildren and became their primary guardians. The oldest grandchild is now out of the house and engaged! They planned on being married on the farm in 2025.  My Dad has dedicated most of his spare time these last 12 years to coaching football for the local youth league. He also sits on the board. Coach Keith is a trusted and reliable pilar of the Muskego, WI community. Additionally, he is involved in conservation work in Waupaca County where he works with the government to preserve the environment and wildlife.  My Mom, Hilda is the rock (or diamond) of this family. She is the glue that keeps this family together and the train moving. We would be lost without the light she shines. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is set to start chemotherapy in the coming weeks. We would love to re-build but realize we can’t do this alone. We need your help. We understand that some people may want to help, but are unable to, in a monetized way, that said, we are also looking for any 2nd hand items that you may have and are willing to donate.  We need to not only rebuild the physical house but will need to make the house a home again.  Furniture, beds, kitchen items etc, it all needs to be replaced. Anything is greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much for listening to our story. God Bless. Rita Matthes
