My name is Scarlet, also known as Miss Scarlet Tanager over on Twitch. Earlier this year, I had some medical problems that wiped out my savings, and what was left got used to fix my computer. Well, I was just forewarned that I'm being served with a Non-Renewal of Lease by my landlady and am being given until the end of October to vacate my house. One of my housemates, who co-owns the house with the landlady, won't fight her on this. Landlady's excuse is that she wants to renovate. This comes doubly at the worst possible time, because I've not refunded my emergency savings, *and* though I've gotten a promotion at work, the pay raise/official changeover hasn't happened yet and won't likely for another month. This means that I need to somehow come up with first and last month's rent, security deposit, *and* pet deposit for a new apartment without enough time to save all that and find a place, even if I was to save every penny I can from here (which, trust me, I am). Thankfully, though I am looking at buying places (for reasons that will become clear in a moment), I have managed to find at least two possible apartment complexes in my area that will take my situation. The problems? Average rent in my area is around $1800, and those that will take my situation that I have found so far are around $1800-$2000. What is that situation? Well, I have two chinchillas (caged) and two rabbits (free-roam and trained). Most "pet-friendly" apartments cap animals at two period, while others cap at two when it's cats and dogs, but will allow more when it's situations like mine. And others still, while advertising as "pet-friendly" will not rent to those of us with "exotics", which... all four of my pets qualify as. On average, the pet deposit I've seen at the two places - so far - that have said they could take me is about $250-$300 *per pet*. So that means this: $1800 (first month) + $1800 (last month) + $1800 (security deposit) + $1000 (pet deposit) Meaning... I need to somehow save $6400 by sometime in October so I can afford to move and not be forced to rehome my pets. Now, the numbers are different, and not all apartments require first *and* last month's rent, but I'm hedging my bets here. This is so important to me; I cannot imagine having to rehome any of my animals, especially because they are so beloved by not only myself, but my community on Twitch. It would destroy me in a year where I've already ended up hospitalized once over my mental health. So, even though I don't like asking for help and I try really hard to make things on my own, I'm asking for it now. Because these four buggers (Garrus, Tali, Ed, and Al) mean the world to me, and I *have* to be able to move into a place that will take them.
