Hi, my name is Carol and August is my birthday month. Instead of buying gifts I ask to support my project throughout Africa. If you want to follow my adventure and project more information can be found on Instagram @carolwitz. This is the second round of fundraising that I am doing to continue supporting different communities during my traveling in Africa. I quit my job and decided to embark on a self journey in Africa. I have always had the passion to help others and didn’t feel fulfilled with my corporate job. So I decided to combine my passion of helping and traveling. My first destination is Kenya where I have been for 10 weeks already. Truly embracing the culture and traveling with a purpose are critical. While traveling I am doing the following: Volunteering at schools Living with local families to understand what is like to live in Africa and sharing more about my culture and ways of living with them Supporting small local businesses Talking to locals to understand different issues within the community Living in local communities and experiencing so many issues first hand has inspired me to start this project. The goal of this fundraising is to truly touch lives of different families throughout my journey in Africa. How can your money help: From Weeks 1-2 We will start a new initiative within the community by engaging young teenage girls to make recyclable pads since most of them can’t afford to buy pads. With this money we can buy used fabrics and turn into pads that will be distributed within the community Week 4-6 Since many families can’t afford school fees children can’t attend school. Raising funds can make sure that children go to school for the year. School fee is around $30 USD per year per child! Week 7-9: Many pastoralist tribes face challenges with the weather. If it’s not a good rain season then their cows, goats, sheep’s die. This is their only source of income so families don’t have money to buy food. Raising funds can supply food for many and many families Week 10-13 School uniform is mandatory and most kids can’t afford to buy new uniforms or even shoes. Raising funds can supply new clothes and shoes so they can attend school Everyday I learn about a new issue. There are many more but we can start impacting these lives little by little with the help from everyone who can support this fundraising
