Retired Sgt. Brian Young of the Florence Township Police Department suffered a work related lung injury due to smoke from an apartment fire several years ago which left him with on going conditions. Recently he was hospitalized again, and as a result of his medical complications, Sgt. Young has run out of sick time and is now retired as of on 8/1/23 and not able to collect his pension for another couple months. This along with some other unforeseen circumstances is very sudden and left him and his family no time to prepare. Unable to collect on his retirement, his family is suffering the sudden loss of his income and their medical benefits. All while Sgt. Young is trying to recover from his recent hospitalization and receive treatment for his current ongoing conditions. This has been devastating to the family as they are raising 2 teenagers and have a daughter in college. Sgt. Young is a military veteran who served in the USMC for 6 years. He has been a dedicated police officer for over 21 years. His wife Nicole served her community for over 15 years as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. This family for many years has dedicated their lives to serving the community and being there for countless others in their time of need. They are not ones to ever ask for help and are used to always being there for others, but Sgt. Young and his family need assistance to get through this difficult time. Thanks to those who donated to the Double Good popcorn fundraiser we raised $1378 and are able to give $689 to Sgt. Young.
