Link to news story about fire Hi, my name is Kara, and my teammates and I at Access DuPage and DuPage Health Coalition have launched a fundraiser to help our dear friend and coworker of 20 years, Denise, and her family. Denise, her son Dylan, and their sweet Labrador retriever Max live in the apartments in Oakbrook Terrace that were struck by lightning during Friday’s severe thunderstorms, resulting in a devastating fire leaving hundreds of families homeless. As I write this Sunday night, Denise still can’t even survey the damage to her apartment due to structural safety concerns. 100% of the families belongings are locked behind barricades, presumed to be destroyed by a combination of fire, smoke, and water damage. Denise is our longest term employee, the heart of our office, and beloved by patients and colleagues alike. If you know her (and so many do) you know just how wonderful she is, and how compassionate. Today, though, it’s her family that could use some extra help; as they face the challenge of finding new lodging, purchasing all new furniture and bedding and clothing, food, and all of the essentials we take for granted. Please, if you are in a position to help Denise and her family, she has granted us permission to share this post and her story. Please join us and make a contribution if you can, every dollar will help them to rebuild their lives.
