Hi, my name is Gisele. I am Delia’s daughter. My mom is a single mom and an Emergency Room nurse. My mom worked very hard to save lives during the COVID-19 pandemic and now she needs help herself. My mom was taking a much deserved vacation in South America, but on July 4th, while snorkeling, she was attacked by a shark in the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador. The shark took a large amount of my mom’s right leg. Thankfully the shark didn't puncture an artery or get to her bone. When I first heard my mom was a shark attack victim, I couldn't believe it. I was supposed to be on that trip with her and I wasn’t there to help her. There are no words to explain how great of a person my mom is. I know that if this happened to me she would do everything in her power to try and make me as comfortable and happy as possible. My mom is such a loving, caring, independent, and passionate person. Just like she’s cared for me and her patients, I want to do the same for her and help her get back on her feet and back to her life. I am very grateful to all the people that have helped my mom while in Ecuador and to my family here who are helping to get her home from Ecuador. I want to start this fundraiser to help my mom get through this traumatic experience, to get her the right medical help she needs, and so she doesn’t have to worry about not being able to work while she recovers. I just want to help her hopefully continue the life she lived before this incident. Thank you very much! P.S: my dad and stepmom are helping me with this, but it’s for my mom.
