As many of you already know, my mom was in a horrible car accident on April 15th. Her car overturned & landed in a canefield causing her to break her neck & injure her spinal cord. She had to undergo surgery on her C5-C6 vertebrae & was almost paralyzed. She is considered an incomplete quadriplegic. She spent 2 weeks at Lafayette General in ICU then was transferred to Touro in New Orleans for two months. She’s had to spend the last two weeks in a facility in new Iberia due to her house not being safe enough for her to go home. We have been repairing her house good enough for her to be able to return home with some type of normalcy but unfortunately we have a long road to go. Her house is very old & is not equipped for a disabled person, unfortunately, & she will have to eventually get a new home. But for now, we are trying to make do with what we have so that we can get her home! She cannot walk, she is in a wheelchair. Her left hand has minimal function. She also has to have assistance transferring from chair to bed, etc. She has made amazing progress in the past two months & I pray it continues! We are asking for donations to help in equipping her house to fit her new disability. She lives alone so I fear for her safety when she is alone. Due to her condition right now she cannot work, & she will be undergoing extensive therapy until if/when she can get back to the independent woman that she was before! Thank you so much!
