I am Abdul. H. Abdullah the husband and maintainer of my wife and family and the long-time sole proprietor of Maidah African Village, a dry goods and culture book shop. I've been in business for over 40 yrs. I am having to replace both knees to ensure my mobility and continued independence, but it also means I will not be able to continue operating my business for a prescribed period. My surgery will require shutting down for three months to rehabilitate and there will be no opportunity to generate sufficient revenue under those circumstances. I will default on my lease and my doors will be permanently closed. As Elders in the community a catastrophic illness poses a serious threat to continuing to live with dignity. The financial hardship is real and in most cases, relief is only through the support of a loving Community and/or family. With your help, our business can be saved from this disastrous end and our monthly expenses can be covered. Our goal is $10,000. Please consider a $20 $25 or $50 donation. We are extending our gratitude in advance for your generous gifts.
