The Briggsdale Community Library serves the little town of Briggsdale, Colorado. We are a non-profit independent library. We run on volunteers. We have no paid workers. We need to raise some funds to replace the furnace in our little library. It has died and is beyond repair. We are a great contribution to our rural community and provide services that really help people but we need help to replace our furnace. We are located in Colorado and the snow can come early. Our library opened in 1986 on land and a building donated to us. We have a wonderful collection of old and new fiction, classics, non-fiction and many historical books (many about local history written by local residents) for pre-school to adults. We have DVD's you can check out. All books and DVD's have been donated to our library. Our library has a Summer Reading program for K-6th grade every summer. For 20 years our library held pre-school until the area school added it to their programs. We also have social events for seniors (that has turned into anyone who isn't busy can come). We partner with High Plains Library District in Weld County. They provide us with Personal Computing Centers. We have two computers hooked to the HPLD network so you can use our computers to access their libraries without driving at least 30 miles. We also have printers that you can print from the computer and is also a copier for anyone who needs to make copies. They provided us with a Mondo Board that is on the wi-fi we can use for presentations (and most usually to watch our kids sports teams when they are away). They have also provided us with 24/7 wi-fi that can be accessed inside and outside the library. This is great for visitors to our area to have access because we are rural and there's not a lot of signal around here at times. It's also great for kids and people who do not have internet access at home. The library is really important in our community for all the above reasons. We have a library Antique and Craft Fair every year to raise funds. We usually collect enough to get us through the next year. Our budget is between $1,700 and $2,000. Funds raised are used for electric, water, propane (that price has doubled to about $600) and building insurance. If we have any left over we use it for Summer Reading. Unfortunately, our furnace is 35 years old and died. It won't turn on anymore and the motor is leaking. We need a new furnace by September because you never know when our first cold snap will come. We don't have enough funds in our account to pay for a new furnace so we're hoping to raise funds through this Go Fund Me. We really need your help so we can continue to serve the community. We are getting a new furnace August 31st. At some point in the future we also need to rip out the 1970's shag carpet and replace it but first things first. We're hoping to get enough by August 31st so no one on the board has to pay and get reimbursed. If you would like to read more about our library we have a Facebook Page - Briggsdale Community Library and we recently had an article written about our library you can read at https://www.greeleytribune.com/2024/07/29/library-a-key-cog-in-briggsdale-community/ Thank you in advance for any donations. It is very much appreciated. We are a non-profit so your donation is tax deductible.
