By now you've probably heard about the explosion at the house on Amherst St. this past Saturday. The Bongiovanni's have 3 children, one in college (who was injured the worst) and 2 at WHS. They have been displaced from their home and are staying with relatives in Hartford. The Bongiovanni family are not people who would ask for help but we are asking for help for this family who has been through a lot in the past couple of years. The father had a near-death experience related to an out of the blue heart problem that left him in a coma for 19 days 2 years ago and kept him out of work for month. The mother just went back to work a month ago (she's a daycare worker at Super Club) after falling at work and severely breaking her foot and needing surgery. The college-aged daughter has 3 broken bones in her nose that will require surgery, lacerations and cuts (like road rash) all over her face and lost her front tooth and very likely will lose the other front tooth and the one next to it. The mother has been advised that dental implants are cosmetic and might not be covered by insurance. Also, the father burned both hands shutting off the gas line after the blast so he is not able to work right now. They didn't lose all of their possessions but the house shifted from the foundation so they might be out of it for awhile. If you could help out it would be much appreciated. Any amount is appreciated. Thank you!
