On Saturday, October 24 our family received the heartbreaking news that my brother Bobby’s wife, Maria, was swept into the Zambezi River in Livingstone, Zambia. Bobby received a phone call and rushed down to the river, where he met Maria’s cousin Natasha and his twin sons, Elijah and Xavier, who were there with Maria at the river at the time. The police were called and searched the immediate area, but Maria has not been found. We are fearing the worst but are actively praying for the best. My brothers, mom, dad, and the rest of the family feel very helpless being thousands of miles away and 24+ hour flight away from Bobby. We all wish we could be there for him.I have received many supportive phone calls and messages from people who have offered to help. My Mom and Dad (Bobbi and Ed) are planning to fly out to Zambia to be with Bobby, the twins, and the rest of Maria’s family. Many family members have stepped up and offered to help pay for my parent’s flights and transportation expenses (and we thank them SO much!) I thought that this avenue would help us raise more money from other family members and friends who may want to show their support. If we end up raising more money than we need for the flights and transportation costs, then any extra will go towards Bobby and the twins, who will surely need all the help that they can get during this time. This fund was started by Kristin (McCarron) McManus, Bobby McCarron’s sister.
