Edit to add: We reached our first goal so quickly, it was amazing and inspiring. I'm grateful how many amazing people I know and the big hearts you have. We've opened this fundraiser back up and wow already another $180 ($100 was donated outside of LFEBridge, directly to me)! That's 2 more bikes people! Xxoo ‐------------------------original------------------ As many of you know, my family and I live in Agadir, Morocco. My husband is originally from this area, and we resettled here 5-ish years after we married. All our children were born and raised here, it's home. Besides Agadir, we spend a lot of time in the countryside of Ihahan where my husband's grandfather was from. It's an extremely poor, rural area. Many of the men in the area work on commercial fishing boats and are gone for months at a time. Their wages feed their families, and frankly, that's about all they can do. There are no parks in the community, no playgrounds, nothing. Kids play in a dirt field with old balls someone might have, or throw rocks for fun (seriously, these kids can throw rocks like a baseball player!). Moroccans are very generous people and charity is a priority. Food is usually the first priority for obvious reasons, followed by blankets and clothes. Toys are last. They just aren’t as important. My heart sits with the children here in Ihahan. They need charity too and every kid needs something for themselves. Something like a bicycle. And hey, it would also be nice for the kilometer+ journey to school! I'm wanting to raise $1000 to buy some gently used bicycles to distribute to the kids of Idl Hajj, Ihahan. (Gently used bicycles, depending on size, run about 900MAD a piece.) If you want to help brighten someone’s childhood and bring joy most of these kids will never experience -a bicycle- please see the LFEBridge link below. Thanks for reading this!
