My daughter and I recently lost just about everything to the July 2024 flooding in Vermont. Floods are not new to us. 11 years ago, when my daughter was a little girl, I was raising her and my niece as a single mom when we lost everything to flooding. We worked and prayed day and night and rebuilt from the ground up. I was able to be a positive role model for them and show them how strong a woman can be in the face of disaster. Our lives continued and my daughter just graduated high school and is a month away from going to college. We never dreamed that this would happen again. But when the flood happened we left everything behind, including her car, which had liability coverage only. I've spoken to FEMA and there’s a high chance they won't cover the cost of the damages because I have homeowners and flood insurance. My small flood insurance policy isn't nearly enough to cover the cost of the damages. This morning a flood disaster recovery company that I had paid a hefty deposit too and had a signed contract with, already texted me and quit, because they refuse to work within FEMA disaster standards. Leaving me completely devastated again and helpless at square one. I am reaching out to raise funds for assistance with my rebuild. Many of you have reached out asking what you can do to help. Those of you who know me know that I'm the first there to help those who need it, and the very last to ask for help. My insurance company has already told me that I will exceed my coverage policy by far more than $35000 to rebuild. We walked away with our lives and a few pieces of clothing, and are living on the mercy of friends and family. People have reached out asking if we have a go fund me to help, so I've decided to start one. I know so many others in my area are in such great need, but if you want to help, and can help us, here's the page. My heartfelt gratitude to all that are willing.
