In January of 2024, a man premeditated an attack on my mom and a few of her friends. This man was no stranger. He was someone we trusted and called a friend. This man was my mom’s best friend’s husband. One day, he followed my mom and her friends, and in attempt to run his wife over in his truck, he ended up hitting my mom, leaving her underneath his truck as he proceeded to retrieve a chainsaw out of the back seat to go after his wife… Luckily, the safety was still on the chainsaw and he was unable to do much harm to his wife. However, this incident left my mom with multiple fractures in her pelvis, emergency bladder surgery, and road rash that resulted in her needing a skin graft. She was in the hospital for a month straight going through multiple surgeries and unbearable pain that seemed unending. Now, she is slowly healing.. learning how do everything on her own again. This experience has impacted me and my family’s lives in an indescribable way. It’s crazy how fast life can change… from my mom running around doing everything for everyone, never standing still and always doing something, to not even being able to use the restroom or change her clothes without help. Every day, she fights to heal from this traumatic experience in hopes of finally living a normal life again. I’m sharing this experience here, because this man has not been reprimanded for his crimes. In an attempt to murder his wife, this man caused three innocent bystanders to suffer unspeakable pain, changing our lives forever. Until he is brought to justice, my mom, her friends, and all our families suffer not only physically, but emotionally. In addition, it has left us struggling to manage the costs of all her surgeries, legal fees, and everything in-between. Although it’s hard to admit, I know it’s moments like these where it’s time to turn to our community for support. So, I’ve set up a LFEBridge for my mom.
