Christopher H. is a blind man living in Ann Arbor who suffers from macular degeneration and Stargardt’s disease, as well as a diagnosed brain tumor and other health problems. He has experienced harassment, break-ins, smoke inhalation, and other issues that are detrimental to his health for over three years at his current residence. Additionally, he may need upcoming surgery for his brain tumor. Moving out of his current apartment is critical to Christopher’s health and safety, and he will finally be able to do so in early August. Christopher needs help paying for his moving costs, which are high because they include packing up everything at his current residence and unpacking everything at his new residence, which Christopher is not able to do by himself. He is not receiving assistance from McKinley management, despite everything he’s been through, and would need to take out a loan to cover the moving costs. Because Christopher is blind and unable to work, a loan would create a significant financial burden for him. Any donation helps and is greatly appreciated! All funds will go directly to Christopher H. Macey, the organizer of this fundraiser, is from the Fair Housing Center of Southeast & Mid Michigan which helped Christopher fight for the ability to move out of his current residence based on his disability. The Fair Housing Center cannot directly assist with moving expenses.
