Welcome to “THE 4th ANNUAL SWIM FOR SOUP 2024!” For the past three years, “SWIM FOR SOUP”, James Young, resident of Columbia, CT has been raising funds for those less fortunate. Soup Kitchens, Food Pantries, Food Banks, not only in Columbia, Connecticut, but so many other surrounding towns has a growing need for assistance. Food resources, shelter, and often heating assistance are much needed by folks in our own back yards… James will start his morning off on August 12th, (as he has done for the past 3 years) at 6:45AM , by swimming the entire perimeter of Columbia Lake (That’s right. The whole shoreline, almost 5 miles and about 3 hours) to raise funds for our community. A selfless event that could help someone who doesn’t feel comfortable asking nevertheless shouldn’t go without. Go fund me is a new venture this year, and although the average over the past years has been approximately $7-10k, we’re really hoping to grow with this venue, as the cost of living grows. Please help by donating whatever you can through go fund me, or continue your generous contributions with a check to the Town of Columbia. Every little bit counts! Thank you and feel free to pick a spot around the lake to cheer him on! Just so you know: Emergency Food Programs are provided through Food Pantries and Soup Kitchens in Columbia, CT and surrounding cities. If you are searching for help or a distribution hub, Columbia does supply the food to the Soup Kitchens, Food Pantries, Shelters etc. They in turn provide that food to the individuals that are in need.
