To those who have helped and those who wish us well, On Friday, July 21, 2024, our hearts broke as we took our beloved dog Zuko to the nearby Pet ER. His prognosis was poor, he had a fever of 106.8, and he had nearly no White Blood Cells in his body. He was lethargic and would not eat. He stayed in the ER over the weekend. His fever went down to 104. But we still could not figure out the cause of his illness. The tests to determine the cause would go well over their initial estimate of $5,500. That is when we decided to make this LFEBridge. We could call it quits and leave him to his fate--or we could fight. So we dug in our heels, ground our teeth, and decided to ask for help. That's where you come in. We've asked family, friends, and old neighbors for financial assistance as we fight for Zuko's longevity; we are glad that we did so, as the total of his medical bills soared well over $9,000. We are so grateful for all of your assistance so far. Personally, I was not-so-joking that we would need to sell the house. On Monday, the doctors allowed us to take Zuko home--not because he was doing better, but because we could not afford to keep him there any longer. Zuko was switched to oral medicine from IV medicine and thank heavens he had enough energy to make this switch. His most recent follow-up appointment on 7/27/2024 revealed that his WBC count has improved tremendously, though it is still lower than the average dog's. He will be monitored at home for the next three weeks. We've been told to "stay paranoid," not take him on any long walks, and keep him away from other dogs--that last one would break Zuko's heart if he understood what it meant. We cannot begin to convey the amount of gratitude we have felt as we have received your donations to help us enable Zuko's positive health. The hope is, of course, to reach our goal. And again, thank you to everyone who has donated even $5. It was seen and appreciated. But I'd break into tears if I typed every thank you individually. So thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. With love and gratitude, Stephanie and Philip Kuldell
