"Lila Hopper, our second youngest daughter, and her husband, Brian, and their five kids currently live and work in Saratoga, WY. Unfortunately, their oldest son, Zeke, has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer known as osteosarcoma (bone cancer). The doctors found the cancer in the bottom half of his right femur. Currently, the cancer is somewhere between a stage 2 and 3 (a final diagnosis will come later this week). They are hopeful that the cancer hasn't yet metastasized and that it can be effectively treated. They are giving his survival rate over the next five years at 70%, and over the next 10 years at 60%. Due to how aggressive this particular type of cancer is, they are unable to properly treat Zeke in Wyoming and are currently treating him at the Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City. The treatment will be extremely intensive and will last for 29 weeks, 16 of which he will be hospitalized for. There will also be a major surgery to remove his femur and other cancer areas in week 11, which will likely require amputation of his leg. Due to the intensive treatment and the nearly 350 mile distance, Lila and Brian and their other four kids will have to move to Salt Lake City to be with Zeke during this time. Unfortunately, the cost to do so will be very high, along with all of the other expenses associated with this diagnosis. They currently do not have the funds to cover such a move and would greatly benefit from and appreciate any financial assistance in moving to Utah, as well as helping with housing and other expenses. Because of this, we are asking that you would prayerfully consider donating to help them be with Zeke and take care of him during this exceptionally difficult time."
