Hi, my name is Hannah Matthews and on July 18th my brother was taken to the ICU after a gun-related incident. He has significant spinal cord damage and every day has become a new challenge or battle. As we have been trying to come to grips with what life would look like for Zac with only the partial use of his right arm, and very little, if any use of his left arm, we were hit with another unexpected piece of news. Zac had a mini-stroke (a left pika Wallenberg Syndrome) which took the use of his right arm, and much of his coordination of his right leg. It also comes with some strange visual hallucinations. Some of this may go away through rehab, but maybe not. Zac is uninsured and although Medicaid may help with some expenses, there is a long road of recovery ahead of us, including a heap of medical bills. Zac will be undergoing long hospital stays, surgeries, physical therapy sessions, therapy, and more just to restore the activities and movements that he will need for daily living. Our hope is that we can help aid with medical bills to take the financial burden off the forefront of his mind so that he can focus on healing. Therefore, with the utmost humility and heartfelt sincerity, I kindly ask you to share the following link with your friends and family to consider offering any financial assistance you can spare. Your support will help alleviate the burden of medical bills, life-long physical therapies and other treatments, and allow us to focus wholeheartedly on Zac's future and well-being. All our love, Hannah and family
