Update- We had a surgery date but it has now been cancelled. Because of the seizures, the anesthesiologist won't sign off without a neurology consult. We are still praying. Updated 08/31/23 Update- Things have changed and for the worse. Brandy has been hospitalized several additional times since we created the LFEBridge page. And has made more emergency room trips than we care to count. She has multiple, massive uterine fibroid tumors. At one point her kidneys were no longer functioning properly and she has now started having seizures. We finally got approval for surgery and will likely get a surgery date next week. She is no longer working and the cost of prescriptions are adding up, while the bills are already rolling in. We understand not everyone can give, but every little bit helps. Even if you can't donate, it takes only a second to share so maybe someone else can see this. Updated 08/21/2024 Hi Everyone! I’m starting this LFEBridge page for my cousin Brandy (who is like a sister to me). I was very surprised to get a call from my mom last week telling me that my cousin was in ICU. Her health issues started with a severe case of bronchitis which caused her to be bedridden and immobile for 2 weeks. During this time, she developed multiple deep vein thrombosis (blood clots) which have now traveled to her lungs (pulmonary embolism) which is dangerous and can be fatal. She was immediately placed on blood thinners and had to have a life-saving surgical procedure done to place a filter in her veins to catch the clots should they move again. At the same time, her hemoglobin (amount of blood volume in your body) was almost nonexistent which is very dangerous and could be fatal as well causing a stroke or heart attack. She was given a total of 3 blood transfusions while spending a week in the ICU. In approximately 4 weeks she will be having a medically necessary hysterectomy due to her body no longer being able to handle the amount of blood loss every month due to a heavy menstrual cycle. Afterward, she will be out of work for approximately 6 weeks and then will have to go back and have a 3rd surgical procedure done a few months later to remove the filter implanted. On top of all of that, she must take multiple prescriptions several times daily with astronomical price tags. In total, she’s looking at a hospital bill probably around $300k-$500k. Help me reach or surpass our goal to take some of the financial burden away so that healing is the focus. Any help is appreciated! And while we understand not everyone can give, prayers are welcome too! Sincerely, Sharnet Stewart
