My name is Wren, I am a 23 y/o transmasc who is undergoing top surgery on September 18th! I’ve wanted this since I was around 16 and the fact that it is finally happening is surreal and more exciting than I can express!! I am currently living in Philadelphia, but due to my insurance, I will be traveling back to my home state Massachusetts for the procedure and recovery. My partner, Mica will be coming with me and helping my mother with my aftercare during the first couple weeks before coming back to Philly after my first post-op on 9/29. We will have to come back and forth a couple times between Philly and Boston for my two follow-up appointments in October. I am organizing this GFM to help with some of the travel costs and time off work for both myself and my partner while I am recovering. I will likely be off work from mid-Sept to mid-October, while Mica will likely be back to work by early October since we plan on coming back to Philly following my first pre-op at the end of September. My accrued PTO will only be covering about 20 hrs at the moment, not sure if it will be much more by the time September rolls around. It’s difficult to calculate exactly how much we will need, but we will try to adjust the goal if we get a better sense of it. Any funds we do not use we intend to redistribute to the community and help out others :) I am also offering pay-what-you-want art commissions (digital and traditional) for anyone who donates $20 or more!
