My name is Ashley, and I am fundraising for my Dad. As some of you know, he has had lengthy bouts of medical issues off and on for the past few years from a concoction of repeating infections as well as his diabetes and high blood pressure. This time, he has been in the hospital over a week so far due to reoccurring infections and issues with his leg that he has already had amputated and is needing to go on short time disability to try to get his leg to heal properly. Through all of it he has kept his spirits high and the nurses and all of us laughing. This fundraiser will help not only with mounding medical bills, but also the gap from wage loss on short term disability as well as monthly bills and expenses. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Please share to where you can. Anything helps and is greatly appreciated. **Dad is home and going to the doctor once a week while also having to take medicines daily. His incisions are healing up nicely as he has been out of work and staying off of his leg except to go to his appointments. He continues to take it day by day and keep a positive and goofy attitude as usual.** ***update 8/12: Dad is set for another surgery on August 21st, three days after his birthday. He is still taking medicines every day and going in once a week to see the doctor. Thank you all so much for your continued love and support. We all very much appreciate it. He is of course growing restless having to stay out of work, but it is best for his health and what his body needs. He still continues to be the same stubborn goofball that we all know him to be. ***Update 8/16: Dad is still set for surgery August 21st. They will go in and take more bone samples to determine if his medications have been working and whether or not the infection is still in the bone. We are unsure what the plan will look like if it is still there. He is currently set for a release back to work October 15th which may be subject to change depending on his continued healing and the results of his surgery. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. ***Update 8/21: Dad had his second surgery today. He got it cleaned out and put a wound vac on again. He is still out of work and will not be able to go back until October 15th at the earliest. With Mom taking off of work to take him to his appointments they could use all the help they can get. Dad now has a wheelchair to help him get around the house and to his appointments more safely as he has unfortunately fallen multiple times. He has still kept his fun and goofy spirit despite everything he has continued to go through and loves to keep the doctors and nurses on their toes. ***Update 8/30: Dad is pic line free and his infection numbers have subsided and all his numbers are normal. :) For now, he is still waiting on two incision sites to fully heal and close. He is still not at work and is not set to return until October 15th. Thank you so much for all of your continued thoughts, prayers, donations, visits and check-ins. ***Update 9/5: Well, unfortunately Dad's leg is not healing as it should be. He is now having to go to wound care 3X a week to get his wound vac changed and will have to continue antibiotics. As his leg is now worse than before, he will have to continue to be out of work until proper healing is made. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers and please check on Dad and Mom with everything they have been going through if even to just say hi and that you're thinking of them. Mom has been taking Dad to all of his appointments, and will now have to do so three times a week, as he is currently using his wheelchair to get around. They now have a ramp outside their front door so Dad is able to safely come out of the house and get some fresh air and not have to stay cooped in the house. Expenses are high with so much missed work from Dad and now Mom as well. Anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated and a share goes a long way. Thank you to everyone that has donated, shared, called, text, visited and continued check in on the family. You are appreciated more than you know, and words alone can never express the immense gratitude we have for all of you. ***Update 9/21: Dad recently went in to the doctor and upon examining his knee they see a 3/4 inch hole down to his knee cap. They put a qtip into his knee and the whole cotton head was gone. With his current state of healing his return to work has been pushed back further. Mom continues to take him to his doctor's appointments three times a week and has been missing a significant amount of work doing so. Please continue to keep him and the family in your thoughts and prayers.
