Hi everyone, I hope this message finds you and your family well. I would like to share my situation and ask for your help. I'm Wilson Figueiredo, 40 years old, married, father of 4 amazing boys and was diagnosed with ALS on July 2024. ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), sometimes called Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a rapidly progressing neurological disease that belongs to a group of disorders known as motor neuron diseases. The first symptom I had was last year. I felt weakness on my left leg while going upstairs. Before receiving my official ALS diagnosis, I was misdiagnosed with a herniated disc and a pinched nerve, which led to a lot of medical expenses. I don't have insurance, and paid out of my pocket for many appointments with different doctors, MRIs, EMGs, medicines, and even for a back surgery. It drained my savings, and since December 2024, I haven't been able to work. My wife is working hard, doing her best to cover our bills, but it's becoming increasingly difficult for us. Among all cases of ALS, only 2% is related to the gene SOD1 (SuperOxide Dismutase 1), which is the only type of ALS that has a prosper and effective treatment. My condition is exactly related to the gene SOD1. The medicine is called Tofersen, developed by Biogen, and it was approved by FDA on April 2024. I'm very optimistic! I'm confident that by receiving the Tofersen treatment, I can become a living testament to its effectiveness. It could potentially help so many others who are facing the same condition. I can't wait any longer - I need to start this treatment as soon as possible. This is where your support comes in. I kindly ask you to consider making a donation towards my journey and treatment. Your contribution, regardless of its size, will make a tremendous difference in my life and the lives of my family. If you can please this link with people that can possibly help me, I really appreciate it. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story. Your generosity and support mean the world to me and my family. Let's come together! Warmest regards,
