Willow Vale was born on April 7th, 2024 She was born at 8:46pm, weighing 7lbs 4oz and she was 20 inches long. Willow was such a healthy and smiley little baby up until July 23rd 2024. Willow had start to projectile vomit her formula almost every feed. She started to only drink about 1-3 ounces of her bottles and would throw up the whole thing. Before this she would drink a full 4 ounce bottle of formula with absolutely no issues. Willow had become more tired than a normal 3 month old baby and when she would look at someone she wouldn’t register them. Willow had seem to be super grumpy and uncomfortable all day and night. We called Willow’s pediatrician and he suggested we should take her to the hospital at 7:30pm on Saturday July 29th, 2024. We assumed it was from dehydration. While at the hospital we waited for about 30 minutes before being put in a room in the ER. During our time at the ER Willow had an ultrasound to the abdomen and to the brain. Nothing was abnormal in her abdomen, but the ultrasound tech noticed something off so she called for a CAT scan. They wheeled Willow over to get the CAT scan on this very big hospital bed, she looked so little. Without knowing at first they sent the CAT scan over to a very extraordinary hospital which helped the ER determine that Willow has a mass in her head. We were rushed over to this extraordinary hospital at around 2:30am Sunday Morning on July 30th 2024. The hospital has very successful Neurosurgeons that can help with Willow’s mass. On the same day they sent her for a fast scan with the MRI which showed the doctors the fluid that was causing her head to swell up. She was taken into surgery on Monday at 7:45am to get a EVD (External Ventrical Drain) which helps to drain the fluid built up in her brain, during the surgery the neurosurgeons drained 30mL (.5 ounces) of fluid. Willow returned back to her room in PICU and after waking up she seemed groggy. About and hour or two pass and she was back to being her happy and smiling little self like she didn’t even have a tumor the size of a golf ball in her brain. The neurosurgeon Dr. Parker showed us and explained her MRI fast scan to us and where the tumor is placed. After her surgery she had a Hour long MRI on Tuesday morning at 11:45am, it was 2 hours long, 1 hour for prep and 1 hour for the actual scanning process. Where Willow Tumor is there are 4 main blood vessels/arteries that go right through it like a pipe and it sits right behind her eye nerves. Willow will undergo her second ever surgery to get 2 small sample pieces of the tumor. The first piece will be sent to Pathology which will do a further study on the tumor and the second piece will be frozen that will give us an immediate 70% guess on what type of cancer Willow has. With her hour long MRI it was determined that Willow also has very small tumors along her spine also. Willow will most definitely have to be treated with chemo to have any chance of taking down the tumors within her head and spine. The neurosurgeons are going to do absolutely everything they can to be as safe and low risk as possible during every operation and procedure. We as a family have decided to use the money to pay Willow’s medical bills and whatever money is left over will be put aside to help us through these months.
