William “Bill” Edward Jacobs of Austin, TX died suddenly of natural causes at the age of 68 on October 23, 2015. He was born on January 8, 1947 in Morristown, Tennessee to Mary Kate Pinkston and James Paul Jacobs. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen Jacobs. He leaves behind his father and his sister, Mary Pauline Cochran, of Victorville, CA, son Samuel Jacobs (Erin) of Alexandria, VA, and daughter Sarah Jacobs (Nicholas) of Chapel Hill, NC, and three grandsons, Benjamin Jacobs, Victor Holifield, and Bailey Jacobs. His mother preceded him in death.At a early age, Bill moved with his parents to Port Lavaca, Texas. He worked as a truck driver and numerous summer jobs to fund his education in engineering at Victoria College and Lamar University where he met his wife Karen, whom he wed June 20, 1970. Bill completed a Master’s degree in engineering at Texas A&M University prior to working in the chemical industry and earning his Professional Engineer license. Bill enjoyed building and tinkering, deer hunting, and political discourse. He would do anything for his family, and encouraged his children to pursue their dreams through education.Visitation will be at Harrell Funeral Home at 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX at 1:30pm on Oct. 27, 2015. Funeral services will follow directly at 2:30pm. Burial will be at Emma Jarnagin Cemetery in Morristown, TN.The family will gratefully use any donations to defray costs of funeral, transportation, and interment expenses.
