Hi, My name is Wayne Rivera and I created this LFEBridge for my son Tristen Samuel Rivera who only just turned 21 on Feb 14.. At the wee hours in the morning of 6/28/2024 I received a devastating call from his mother Kathy Jucutan that our son had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was fighting for his life at the Lebanon Community Hospital in Oregon. They weren't sure that he was going to be able to make it and as parents that shook us to the core. They were able to stabilize him enough to be life flighted to Legecy Emanuel Hospital, which happens to be the best Hospital for brain injuries in Oregon. As a family we all came together and prayed he’d come back to us. They told us he might not make it and that the next 24 to 48 hours were the most critical. All we could do was start the prayer chains, which ended up spreading worldwide. They ended up doing 2 surgeries and SAVED HIS LIFE!! Now it’s another fight to stay alive due to the damage his brain received. The bullet can't be removed from the brain as it would cause even more damage and end what life he has at the moment. This tragedy has put stress on many areas of our lives, not only mentally/emotionally but in ways of not being able to work, having someone present with Tristen at all times and juggling raising his younger siblings, hotel stays, gas to go back and forth, and not to mention all the medical expenses now and to come. We are trying to raise funds so that Tristens has the best care he can receive and so his family can be with him supervising as much as possible as the medical system is severely under staffed and we are concerned for his recovery. To be honest we are unsure what funds are going to be needed at this time, with brain injuries it’s a day by day progress to see where we are and where we might be in a year. I can assure you that all donated funds will be used appropriately and not for any personal gain whatsoever. It's kills us to even ask for any type of hand out but unfortunately we see no other choice than to reach out to the village for help due to our circumstances. We are asking for everyone's prayers regardless if you can or can't donate. We will take all the prayers we can everyday you’re able to. God is a healer and we trust in him and whatever is his plan. We believe that miracles will happen for Tristen so please please keep praying, I believe God’s listening with that big heart of his I will update my sons status as changes ebb and flow whether it be good or bad. It’s now all in the Dr's and God's hands. We just want to say thank you for helping us during this heartbreaking time. It’s something a parent should never have to experience and we just want our boy to come home. Thank you for all the love, support, prayers and positive thoughts!!! We are ever so grateful. Sending love and light to you all, God bless.
