This is my friend Vince Musaalo, one of the best men I know. Vince is from Uganda in Africa but now lives here in the United States with his wife Freda and their 4 children. Vince has an extraordinary story of growing up in Uganda under the ruthless dictator Idi Amin who killed an estimated 300,000 to 500,000 people. Vince's father Francis was one of those murdered as told in his book titled- Through Some Miracle Not Yet Clear To Me- "A heavy rock and a big piece of rusted metal tied to the body were floating." Vince's book can be purchased on amazon. That is what inspired me to do this Go Fund Me. I have never done anything like this before but this year on our vacation my wife and I re-read Vince's book. After finishing we both wanted to make it possible for Vince and his family who have never been to Uganda to go and visit their Grandma Felicitas. She is an amazing woman who single handedly had to find a way to keep her family together after the loss of her husband. As told in Vince's book "My mother's closest friends had deserted her. They knew the price they would have to pay if they reported their involvement-sudden death! No one was willing to take the risk. She was now about 5 months pregnant. She feared we would be ostracized, or even killed. All of this on top of a mother's basic concerns for her children: food, clothes, education, growing up... I had the privilege of meeting Felicitas about 10 years ago when she came here to visit Vince and his family. What an amazing woman. An honor to meet her and feel of her strong spirit. I know Vince has wanted to take his family to see where he grew up and to visit his mom but it is expensive. So that is where you and I come in. I figure it would be about $20- $22,000 to take the family to Uganda and back. Vince is a humble man and I know he will think I have already shared to much. As he said "I don't want to profit off of my story," but I told him it is an amazing story that needs to be heard and felt by as many people as possible, and if that helps you to go visit your mom who sacrificed so much to raise her children then that is a good thing!
