My husband, Eric, is traveling to Croatia on October 30th in order to help with the refugee situation.  He'll be gone for Thanksgiving, his birthday, Christmas and New Year's.  With two young children (10 and 6), this is quite the sacrifice.  We decided to use our frequent flyer miles to take the kids to see what Eric is doing during the week between Christmas and New Year.  Well, that was easier said than done, as flights were sold out and airlines were requesting more miles than we have.  Finally, we figured out we could fly into Italy and drive to Croatia.  The airline said it would be 20,000 frequent flyer miles per person, each way, for a total of 120,000 miles.  We were happy to use what we had to visit Eric and give the kids a holiday with their dad.At checkout with the airline, though, we were told that there would be a cost of $2300 in taxes and fees!!  So, I thought I'd start this page to see if we can try to raise these costs so we can get the kids to Croatia (I've included the GoFund me fees, too).  While there, we plan on volunteering in the areas where Eric will be working, showing them that even one person can make a difference in the lives of others.
