Hello, my name is Alexis daughter of Vicente Martinez, otherwise known as "Tito". Early July, my father was rushed to the hospital after experiencing heat exhaustion due to his working conditions. This visit to the ER resulted in such a nightmare, my father had become septic. Later, he had been diagnosed with cellulitis in his right calf, anemia, diabetes, and kidney cancer. After many scans and bloodwork being done, we were informed that he had developed a 5 cm mass on his right kidney that had either just recently gotten there or had been there for a couple of years. Trying to go forth with this situation has been extremely difficult to say the least. He is taking this day by day, attempting to understand what is happening to him. As well as why this is happening to him. I strive daily to help him further understand his conditions, reminding him that it will all be okay, that he is so strong, and that he is so so loved by many! His heart goes out to all of his customers that he met throughout the years while serving, managing, and owning his own business. He never fails to mention the out pour of love that he has received from ALL of you! The purpose of this LFEBridge is to offset the financial burden of this diagnosis so that my dad can focus on the more important matter of beating this disease. My dad has already endured intensive treatment with multiple stays at St.Elizabeth’s Hospital. His progress has been encouraging and the doctors are optimistic that he will be cured! The next step in treatment will be the complete removal of his right kidney, which will take place on August 29th, 2024. Unfortunately, my dad was recently informed that his fixed employment at Hubbell Wiegmann will not be promised when he returns because he has not worked with this company for a full year, FMLA will not cover his position there. He is currently on short-term disability coverage which gives him 60% of his pay. He is also a server at Margarita’s in downtown Belleville in the evening, but due the surgery he will have to be out of work completely, until further notice. The fear of losing his employment will make it difficult to pay for extensive and growing medical expenses. Since my dad’s diagnosis, he has incurred major medical expenses (deductibles, co-insurance, denied claims, etc.) and anticipates that the bill will continue to grow throughout this horrific ordeal. My dad is a very kind and generous person; always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and strangers. He is a hard worker, with a great sense of humor, and devotion to his customers, friends, and coworkers. So far, throughout this unimaginable journey, my dad has remained positive, been faithful to God, and is fighting hard to get through these challenges. So many of us have been asking what we can do to help bring my dad back to health, back to work, and back to the life that he treasures. If we can each lend a hand to reduce the financial stress and let him concentrate ALL OF HIS ENERGY on pushing through this difficult time, that WILL MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE! Thank you in advance for your consideration in helping my dad out and his costs. Your donation will be used toward his medical treatment and his recovery post surgery. Let’s be a force that helps carry him through this challenge. Any donation amount helps in reminding him that he is not alone in his journey. With Love, Alexis Martinez
