Hello I’m Lauren, a Veteran, previous Wildland firefighter, Wildlifebiologist and now Cancer Fighter. I found my first lump in 2019 during a self check before I left on a fire detail. When I returned I sought out a Dr. but was misdiagnosed for 3 years before finally getting diagnosed in November 2024. Once I was diagnosed I learned the full spread of what the cancer cells had been doing. The cancer had spread from my breast; to my lymph nodes, 2x spine, lungs, liver, and bones. Most of my hip had been eaten away from the cancer cells as well. In January 2024 I lost movement in my left arm and right hip. Siince I have started treatment I am able to move my left arm, my hip is stable and the cancer in my spine is gone. Recently while picking up the Medicine I need to take as part of my treatment (Verzenio) I was able to see the true cost of my medicine and what it costs to stay alive. 1 month of life saving cancer meds costs more than $9,500! That doesn't include the rest of my chemo treatment In April 2024 I met a man by the name of Juan who runs a youtube page, called thatwasepic! I was blessed beyond belief but even with that help, the cost of living with Cancer is high! I am also planning on going back to school where this will be even more difficult to pay for.
