September 22, 2024 Update: Next surgery is set for September 27, 2024. This will be the second half to my Zypher Valve Placement. We will incur expenses for copays, travel, hotel, parking, food etc. All donations are used for this, I appreciate all your contributions, prayers, messages and support. March 5, 2024 UPDATE: Below is my Story, which explains my medical Journey with Breast Cancer and Lung Transplant. I’ve added my recent update. In October of 2024, I was diagnosed with Squamous Cell & Melanoma on my back. I had surgery to remove both on November 10, 2024 Because of recent diagnosis, I’m currently not a candidate for lung transplant and have been removed from the waiting list. I will have to undergo a PETScan every 90 days, for 12 months, if all is clear of cancer, I will start over on all testing, and prepare for lung transplant. The New Treatment Plan is, Zephyr Tubal Placement in each lung. This will increase lung function, giving more time to allow for transplant. I have completed the testing to determine if I’m a good candidate for placement and will see lung surgeon on March 8, 2024 for results. Some people are born with a defect in the left lung, that allow for air to leak from the left lung, this defect doesn’t cause the normal person any issues, unless/until you’d need this tubal placement. If I have this birth defect, I won’t be a candidate because, it can cause lungs to collapse and even death. If the scans look normal, they will put me under for surgery and again check for this defect, if not found, I will receive the placements, if found, I’ll be placed on a ventilator for a few days and then released to come home. I’m not certain of what the next year would entail if I’m unable to receive Tubal placements? I’m in need of donations to cover A New Inogen Portable Oxygen tank, the one I purchased was refurbished, and constantly needing repairs. My Co-pays, travel expenses, hotel stays, medications etc. This next few years require a lot of travel weekly to/from Dr. appts. Having a single income has placed a tremendous strain upon our family. We truly appreciate your continued prayers, support, phone calls, donations etc. I’m going to include pictures below of Skin Cancer surgery from November. Hi, my name is Brandi, my journey began 22 years ago at the age of 28, when I was first diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma of the breast, I began chemotherapy, followed with Radiation, a Lumpectomy and Lymphectomy. I sustained permanent lung damage from radiation called Lung Fibrosis that went undetected until 2024 when I became sick with Flu Type A. I went into respiratory failure and was placed on a ventilator for 17 days. Upon further evaluation we found I had 64% lung function. In April 2024, I was diagnosed with HER2 Stage 3 Breast Cancer, it had spread to lymphatic system. I began chemotherapy and 4 months later I had a double mastectomy. I’ve been undergoing chemotherapy weekly, and unfortunately my lung function has now deteriorated to 26% I’ve been blessed to be seen by University Hospital Heart & Lung Transplant Clinic in Dallas Texas. We’re in hopes I’ll complete chemo by November and on January 10, 2024 I will start the process for a double lung transplant. We’ve experienced insurmountable expenses due to my illness. My husband is our only income of our family of 5. I have medical expenses, from Dr visits, parking costs, medications, and many other supplies that unfortunately aren’t covered by insurance. And in the coming months, as I start my transplant journey, these expenses will only greaten. I thank you in advance for donations or even a prayer.
