Hello, as some of you may know, Shannon was recently diagnosed with Loeys-Dietz Syndrome, or LDS. This is a genetic disease that can affect any connective tissue in the body and cause it to grow incorrectly, leading to joint issues, detached retinas, or even aneurysms or burst blood vessels to name a few of the possible symptoms. Once diagnosed, several screenings are required to rule out these issues. In June, Shannon had several CT scans of her whole body. The cost for just these scans was almost $4,000 after insurance, in addition to several other smaller bills from the many appointments with specialists and other screenings done, with some appointments still to be scheduled. There is also no assistance offered from LDS foundations, as this is a fairly newly-discovered condition. While the hospital offers a payment plan, we took on this cost at a monthly payment, only to find out a couple of weeks later that her employer would no longer be fully paying for her health insurance starting July 1, adding another couple hundred dollars a month in expenses. This caused us to put aside some goals and projects we had for our home as well. Any money received from your donations will go towards paying off these medical bills first and foremost, as well as some tax debt accrued from last year. We would also like to complete some needed home repair projects with any remaining funds. It has been a really hard decision to publicly ask for help. We thank you for reading and appreciate any amount you can give, or even just for your thoughts and prayers. You can find out more about LDS at https://www.loeysdietz.org/
