Many of you asked to provide a way to send donations online, so we created a LFEBridge page. The message below is copied from the email that was sent last week. Thanks for your kind consideration of Tri Delta Epsilon chapter of Knox College. The active members are very grateful for the support. Wishing you all the best. Warmly, Jen Lazarz Dear Epsilon Alumnae, I write to you all today to tell you about what is currently happening at Epsilon. The chapter has been struggling in the last few years in terms of finances and membership, which go hand in hand. The only remedy is to raise dues, which has been done year after year, but dues are getting to a point of being out of reach for many students. I remember dues being a little over $100 per term when I was an active member - but they are now more than $300 per term. In terms of membership, there have been a combination of challenges that the chapter has faced. I learned at Convention last summer that many schools across the country are still recovering from the effects that COVID brought to the Greek system (now referred to as FSL, fraternity and sorority life.) Larger schools are bouncing back faster, but small schools like Knox are still struggling. In 2024 and 2024 the chapter had to host virtual formal recruitments, so PNMs (potential new members) were unable to have the full experience of a regular recruitment. Participation in FSL, in general, was also less appealing because the chapters were unable to do many things in person. Finally, I go back to the chapter dues and finances. We commonly hear from PNMs that the high price tag of the dues is what deters them from going through recruitment. Here is how YOU can help. In order to help ease the burden of member dues, we are asking willing and able alumnae to donate to assist Epsilon this upcoming school year. We have a goal of raising $5,000, which will go towards the utilities at the Tri Delta house plus their insurance. Any remaining funds will go to officer budgets. After crunching the numbers with the executive office, we’ve realized that the chapter’s biggest expense is actually the house at Knox. Our members love that space, and we are so lucky to have such a nice house. Unfortunately, it just comes at a high cost, and the money to pay for it comes from the member dues. Please see the video that gives a personal account of how this would greatly help and improve our members' experiences. https://drive.google.com/file/d/17JeMeo-nYG-75AZ9__k4-NCg43Vm36kl/view?usp=drivesdk If you're not interested in helping the chapter in that way, perhaps you'd consider purchasing tangible items off of the chapter’s Amazon Wish List. Many alumnae purchased off of the chapter’s Wish List last year, and it was very successful and appreciated! These items will be used by the chapter in the upcoming year for various events. I thank you all for taking the time to hear about Epsilon. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Ultimately, my hope is that the current and future members of Epsilon can have the most amazing experience possible, and I want to do everything in my power to make sure that happens. This fundraiser is NOT facilitated by Knox College. Therefore, we are not able to offer tax deductions at this time.
