We now have to stay in hospital for at least up to 2-3months while Sofia heals any help would be appreciated, Sofias condition is really rare and undiagnosed at the moment but we now have to stay in hospital until every singke results come back and a diagnosis. Hi everyone please bare with me I've not had to write something like this before so I just thought i would update you on Sofia and her operation on the 11th August we came to GOSH and she had examination under anesthesia which showed inflammation so a pope wick (a fancy name for a sponge) was inserted to allow drops to get to the affected area we were discharged the same day to come back in a week for the same procedure on the 18th of August we came down on the 17th to stay the night in hospital accommodation Sofiaa ear had continued to bleed which was expected as no grommets were fitted due to the damage caused by infection. We had been up our local hospital on the Saturday 12th and Tuesday 15th with bleeding from the ear each time we was discharged because they refused to assess her because she was under GOSH I have followed advice from gosh who advice keep going to local hospital until Friday. When we came down on Thursday sofias ear started to bleed i called gosh who asked us to come to the ward to have a pressure bandage on at 23.30 then they sent us back to the hotel then she Haemorrhaged at 00.00 so we called an ambulance who took us to university college hospital where we stayed until 6am Friday so Sofia could have her surgery on the ear, so we went back to gosh on Friday 18th Because of the bleeding the surgery didn't take place and she had CT scans and MRI scans instead to see where the blood had come from, she went down at 4pm and didn't come back until 21.47 the scans showed that she had a small stroke and a blood clot in the main catiraoid atery on the left side she also has a blood clot in the main blood supply in the brain which they are most worried about she is on heprin blood thinning iv and is being monitored closely if the clot spreads or thins too quickly it will cause a catastrophic stroke , she hasn't got any symptoms of a typical stroke but they have said it may affect her in the next few days. It is highly likely we will be in for a minimum of 2 weeks. Sofia is showing the doctors how strong she is by being awake and babbling away the doctors said with how bad it they would expect her to be quite poorly with it but she's a strong little lady. All of this has stemmed from the chronic ear infections which has spread to her left atery in her neck with infection and inflammation which has caused that atery to become narrow and the base of the left side of her skull is all infected I am so distraught this news but I thought I would update you all many thanks Lauren x
