I am starting this page in support of a dear friend of mine who has been walking through an extremely difficult season of health challenges. Several years ago, she began experiencing flashbacks of childhood sexual abuse. After time and gathering courage to ask for help, she sought care from a trauma counselor, but in the process of healing she started to experience debilitating physical, mental and emotional effects of PTSD. As her friend and a witness of her journey, I can honestly say that what she has experienced is beyond words. In fact, if all this had happened to me, I am not certain that I would have been able to keep on living. Thankfully, she is a survivor. She is a talented, driven, brilliant person with a caring and generous soul who has much to offer this world. It is not an easy journey, but she is persevering on the long and painful road to healing and wholeness. All of that said, my friend is doing better but the recovery process is not complete. She has already spent thousands of dollars and depleted her savings to pay for the necessary physical and mental health support services. Despite working full time, she is in need of additional financial support to keep getting the care she needs. She is working with a licensed naturopath for physiological support for severe PTSD and a licensed somatic therapist to help address nervous system dysregulation and ongoing triggers. With your help, I am hoping to raise $5,000 to enable her to continue care with the naturopath (clinical visits every 6-8 weeks plus supplemental medicines) and somatic therapist (once a week) through the next six months. Please consider helping this woman by contributing financially and sharing this page with others. Due to the nature of her trauma, my friend wishes to remain anonymous, but I can vouch for her integrity and that every donated dollar will go to these support services. If you are interested in learning more about trauma and related resources (books, websites, etc.), please reach out to me - I’d be happy to share what I have learned. Thank you so much for your generous and hope-renewing gift of any amount!
