Hi my name is Maurice and I am fundraising for my good friend Tony who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. Unfortunately the Dr’s have given him the terrible news that this disease will be what eventually ends his life. Here is what his middle daughter wanted me to share.. Celebrating the Life of a Fearless Fighter: A Tribute to My Father In honor of my father, who is currently in the last stage of a rare liver cancer, allow me to share the remarkable journey of his life. At the tender age of three, he embarked on a life-changing journey, leaving Vietnam during the war alongside his parents. They sought refuge in America, leaving behind most of their family. Settling in a new land, my father experienced the hardships of living in refugee camps, carrying within him the weight of those challenging times. Life sculpted him into a tough and resilient individual. During his high school years, he discovered a passion for break dancing, opening the door to a world of music that has remained a part of our lives to this day. Through his guidance, I developed an appreciation for the melodies that continue to resonate deeply within me. As a dedicated father of four children, my dad has spent his entire life working in the construction industry, beginning with the birth of his first child. He has proven himself time and again, earning the reputation as the fastest and the best during company picnic challenges. His unwavering commitment has always been driven by his desire to provide for his children and care for his parents. Fearless and brimming with excitement, my father has always faced adversity head-on. He embraced nature with a profound love, fearlessly springing from waterfalls and finding solace in the beauty of the outdoors. Even in his food choices, he displayed courage, relishing the heat of spicy flavors. As a child, I followed in his footsteps, eager to emulate his bravery, even daring to eat jalapeños as a toddler because I saw him do so. Beyond that, he possessed hidden talents, excelling in video games and showcasing surprising intelligence. Throughout his life, my dad never indulged in a vacation, dedicating each day to working tirelessly. I have fond memories of my mother taking us to his job site, bringing him lunch and witnessing his unwavering commitment. Even when he faced a severe head injury from a fall, he persisted and continued working. Reluctant to ask for help, I now wish for him to find solace in this time, embracing optimism and allowing healing to bring him the peace, love, and joy that life has to offer.
