Hi,I am a member of the LGBT community and part of a Bay Area Vipassana Buddhist sangha and Michfest community. I am fundraising for a dear friend who is in a very dire situation and needing help.Her name is Toni and she has 6 children. She lives in Iowa and as a biracial woman, is experiencing racial threats and violence. People have been driving by her house, throwing things and yelling racial slurs and threats. There are confederate and white pride flags up nearby. She is isolated, scared and sometimes she and her kids have days of eating very little. She went to Iowa from CA (she is native CA) because her father misled her to believe he would give her a house. On top of all this she has a severely autistic son who is just 5 years old, but still in diapers who hasn't received services because hte system is so bad in Iowa.So she needs to get out of Iowa and get to Oregon where her grown son can give her a place to stay while she looks for permament housing.On top of all this she has a severely autistic son who is just 5 years old, but still in diapers.Toni is smart, funny, no substance use and is a great mom despite her challenges. She has been a friend for over 10 years and has survived domestic violence and extreme poverty. She has developed a small home business selling essential oils and will look toward having a garden and selling vegetables when she has her new home. She and her children deserve a chance for a stable and easier life. Please help if you can.She needs $ for maintenance, insurance and new tires on her vehicle to be able to make the trip, gas, food, and $ for a place to stay when she gets to Oregon and for furniture once she finds a place.I am not posting pics of her as she is afraid for her safety and doesn't want pics on the internet.
