Hello Everyone! Thank you for taking the time to visit my family's LFEBridge page on behalf of my wonderful and loving father, Thomas Gero. Since the fall of 2024 my father had been experiencing excruciating pain on his right hip and leg area. Not long after he began to lose his mobility, relying on a cane and soon after a walker to get around. After dozens of doctor appointments, blood draws, medication, and so much more, an MRI discovered a large mass on his right hip. A sample was taken and sent out for biopsy. We then anxiously awaited the results... It is with heartbreaking news, that my family then found out that my father has Stage 4 Pancreatobiliary Cancer. This type of cancer is a group of malignancies affecting the pancreas and biliary tract, including the gallbladder and intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts. My father received a PET scan, to see if this cancer had spread; it unfortunately has to lower regions of his back and small nodules in his lungs. On May 8th, my father began what would be a total of 11 rounds of radiation treatment to target the mass on his hip and the nodules on his lower abdomen region. He reacted well to radiation, and proved to be just as strong as we knew him to be! On Wednesday, June 7th, my father got a Sub Q Port placed on the right side of his chest (this will be used for weekly blood draws, blood transfusions and chemo treatment). He started Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy on June 8th. The Oncologist anticipates that he will need to complete 4 months of chemo, attending weekly sessions in hopes he reacts well. As I sit here and write this I am in tears... I never thought this day would come. My father means the absolute world to me and my family. We are heartbroken. We are asking all friends, family and strangers to support us in any way possible. Please take the time to pray, send love and donate. All proceeds raised will help to alleviate medical bills from my father's treatment, as well as provide supplies to keep him as comfortable as possible. Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts. Please visit our LFEBridge page for updates. WE LOVE YOU, DADDY!!! STAY STRONG!!!! We will be here with you every step of the way through this challenging journey! My heart aches and goes out to all those with loved ones suffering from cancer. <3
