My name is Teriesa, and I am Merle’s oldest sister. As a family we are very close and never ask for help. As many of you know Merle was involved in a figure 8 racing accident on July 29th. This is a message from him. First and foremost I’d like to thank God for protecting me, I’m in lots of pain but could have been worse. Second id like to thank everyone for the prayers, checking in on me, and all the words of encouragement. I can use all of them right now. Idk how long I’m gonna be in iowa Methodist but I do know I’ll be out of work for a long time. I have 7 broken ribs, a punctured lung( which at this time they did light surgery to put a tube through my side to drain my lung and help my breathing ). My pelvis has multiple cracks and fractures. They are not gonna attempt surgery right now on my pelvis, they want to give it a day and see if it will naturally heal and get me up walking with crutches or walker to see if my pelvis will hold up. Most of all my family for being by my side and helping what I need at this moment. Again thank you all, I really do appreciate it. So therefore if you could help out in any way as Merle will be off work for awhile and has 2 daughters. One that lives with him full time and one that he gets every other weekend and every Wednesday but has her more then that. It just Merle and his daughters and while he will get some disability from work it won’t cover everything plus getting his oldest daughter ready to go back to school. Anything helps.
