Subject: Help Save a Life: Support Tim's Dual Heart and Liver Transplant Journey Dear Friends, Family, and Community, I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. Today, I reach out to you with a heavy heart, as Tim is facing a life-threatening situation that requires our collective support. Tim, a 43-year-old husband and father of two beautiful boys, has been living with congenital heart defects his entire life. He had his first open heart surgery when he was 10 hours old. He miraculously exceeded all expectations and grew up with the knowledge he probably would need another heart surgery. When he was 7, he was lucky enough to have his second surgery performed by a world-renowned congenital heart surgeon in Boston. Once again, he exceeded expectations and bounced right back into his life of family, friends, and school. Unfortunately, he experienced an arrhythmia episode which almost caused his heart to stop, prompting a re-evaluation of his health. The recommendation was to have another open heart surgery to fix some physical and electrical items. Again, due to the hard work of his family, he was able to be operated on by the top surgeons in the field at Chicago Children’s Hospital in 2004. He emerged from his last open heart surgery ready to tackle life. He finished his education, met and married a beautiful woman, and got a job in Kansas City. About five years ago, it was becoming obvious that Tim would need another surgery of some sort. His family also got the bad news that his heart had caused something called cardiac cirrhosis. Tim; his wife, Kristen; and sons Alex and Ben moved back to the Pittsburgh area, realizing that they would need to lean on their friends and family at some point in the near future. Due to both his heart and liver failing, his doctors have recommended a dual heart and liver transplant, a complex and costly procedure that is his only chance at a renewed lease on life. Tim has spent the last three years going from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, to the Cleveland Clinic, to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, and eventually back to UPMC. During this time both he and his wife were told multiple times that there was nothing that could be done to prolong his life once his heart and liver failed. The family has spent a significant amount of money, traveling back and forth to these locations for multiple weeks of testing at each of the facilities. This brings us to the present--Tim and his family are focusing on the fight for his life. Any financial support would ease the stress and burden of dealing with expenses while Tim is out of work on disability. Currently, Tim has been admitted as an inpatient at UPMC. He will stay there until he can receive both organs. As many of you know, Tim is the backbone of his family, a loving husband, and a devoted father. His commitment to his loved ones has never wavered, even in the face of this daunting health challenge. Now, he needs our help. The financial burden associated with organ transplants is immense, and despite Tim's unwavering determination, the costs are overwhelming for his family. Medical bills, post-surgery care, and ongoing treatments add up rapidly, leaving them in a difficult and stressful situation. This is where we come in. Together, we can make a difference in Tim's life and give him the opportunity to see his children grow, create more memories with his family, and continue being the incredible person we all know and love. We have set up a LFEBridge campaign to rally support for Tim's dual heart and liver transplant. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant impact. Your generosity will not only help alleviate the financial burden but also provide emotional support to Tim and his family during this challenging time.
